LIVING WITHIN AN ARBORETUM

The city of Bexley is a suburb of Columbus, Ohio located just a few miles east of the state capital. Visitors and residents alike can discover the natural wonders of Bexley Arboretum by simply meandering through any street or public park. This is because the City of Bexley IS Bexley Arboretum. In fact, Bexley is the first city in the United States to become an accredited arboretum by Morton Register of Arboreta. This achievement wouldn't have been obtainable without the support of the Bexley community.

To become an official municipal arboretum has many unsuspecting challenges. Unlike a typical arboretum which consists of a single parcel of land or a designated park set apart from urban areas, a municipal arboretum must serve many purposes. Community is the central framework that makes it possible. For decades individual residents, business owners and city workers have chosen to prioritize trees. This collective focus over the years has slowly transformed The City of Bexley into a beautiful urban oasis.

Of course, our arboretum is not isolated to tree lawns; Bexley has numerous noteworthy parks and greenspaces worth exploring. Aside from our mature forests and wooded sports fields, Bexley Arboretum also maintains lush community gardens and even a natural dog park.
